Our host hotel for Migration 16 is the Green Valley Ranch Resort, Spa & Casino (GVR) – one of the finest luxury resorts in the Las Vegas area. Located in Henderson, just a few miles south of Las Vegas, the resort’s impeccable guest services, the wealth of outstanding amenities and expansive pools and gardens have earned it a top reputation. With spacious and beautifully designed hotel rooms and suites with all the modern conveniences, guests should find everything they need at this “off the strip” hotel.

GVR’s extensive meeting facilities will accommodate all of our Migration needs, so you only need to venture away from the resort if you want to. Although it’s “off the strip,” its location provides a more relaxed atmosphere than the usual Vegas venues, and the resort’s shuttle bus service provides free transportation for those wanting to visit casinos on the strip. For specifics on GVR’s facilities, check out their website!

For Migration, we have a negotiated room rate of $189 (plus tax and resort fee) per night for their deluxe “Run of the House” accommodations. For anyone desirous of greater luxury, a variety of suite upgrades are available.

Airline Passengers

McCarran International Airport (KLAS) will be your only choice if you choose to fly in via the airlines. Las Vegas is one of the easiest airports to get to from all around the country, with many direct flights from even smaller airports. In addition to the shuttle from the Green Valley Ranch, McCarran has taxi and rideshare pickup options as well.

Here is a suggested link to find the best airline flights to LAS for the M16 dates (Thursday 10/11/18 – Sunday 10/14/18).

Fly-In Aircraft

Henderson (KHND), our destination airport, sits under the Class B “shelf” just south of Las Vegas International. KHND is a towered Class D Airport that sits under the KLAS Class Bravo. We have had several COPA events at KHND from CPPPs to the fly-in location for previous Migrations. While the Las Vegas area can be very busy, please do not let this Intimidate you from flying in. By flying the routes described below and obtaining VFR flight following, the process of flying-in should be fairly routine.

Notice to Cirrus Pilots

Input from Tracon

[/content][/efcb-section-html][efcb-section-html text_alignment=”” line_spacing=”” text_font_color=”#000000″ margin_top=”” margin_bottom=””][content]

We have worked with the Las Vegas TRACON (L30), LA Center (ZLA), and Tower (KHND) to develop some preferred routes for arrival and developed a preferred departure plan. The TRACON is aware of the dates of Migration, as well as the number of airplanes to expect. Even with these plans in place, if several Cirrus aircraft arrive VFR at the same time and happen to be bunched up with other arrivals, LAS Approach may have to ask for a 360 turn or two, or may vector us for spacing. But, they will attempt to minimize delays.

Arrival: Fly-In Aircraft

We strongly suggest that pilots review the following documents as appropriate, however this information is to be used as a reference only. The Pilot in Command is always responsible for the operation of their aircraft. 14 CFR 91.3.

The M16 Planning Team suggests that you depart VFR from KHND. This will speed up the process of departures for everyone. The Henderson Tower plans to coordinate with Las Vegas TRACON and issue squawk codes for VFR departures if requested. If you prefer not to wait for the squawk code, just remember to remain outside of Bravo airspace which is very nearby.

While our Cirrus airplanes are reliable aircraft, things happen. Occasionally they do need repair beyond what a knowledgeable pilot can provide. Migration 16 attendees have a couple of choices for maintenance (either planned or unplanned):

On Airport:

Lone Mountain Aviation has agreed to have mechanics, parts and tooling available for Migration aircraft on field at Henderson during Migration. Lone Mountain is Las Vegas’s Premier Cirrus service center and partner.

While their headquarters and primary maintenance facility is located at the North Las Vegas airport (KVGT), Lone Mountain is breaking ground on a 30,000-square-foot maintenance facility at Henderson. While it will not be complete during Migration, you should be rest assured a Service Center is standing by should you require their services.

If you would like to schedule any maintenance with Lone Mountain while you are in Henderson for Migration, please contact them directly: 702-309-2200 or email info@lonemountainaviation.com
